My name is Michael Maher and my story started in 1988. But I was born into a much greater story. A story that started long before I was born. Long before time was even born. So close your eyes, wait... don't close your eyes. You've got to read this! "In the beginning..." This is the very first verse of the bible, and one can only assume that it's talking about the beginning of time. So this means there was a before time. A time where our Eternal King and Creator ruled and reigned gloriously, as He does today, only, He did it without us. We were on His mind no doubt.
I imagine that He, with His incomprehensible Love for us, was delighting in the days when He would have sweet fellowship with us, His creation, His bride. You and me. The time did come, or the moment I should say, when God created the heavens and the earth, and time started. He made everything, from the smallest atom to the hugest astronomic thing, from the tiniest little ant to the grandest mountain range, water, flowers, lava, puppies, sharks, whales, dinosaurs, aaaaaaahhh! everything! Everything just for us! (Oh thank You Jesus:)
Then He made man. What a glorious moment. The moment God and His creation had been waiting for. He created the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve, in the most beautiful place on the planet called the Garden of Eden. It was like God's first date with His bride to be. They walked and talked, smiled and laughed, loved and learned, when the second most fatal tragedy in history occured. God and the love of His Life were separated. God had commanded Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree in the middle of the Garden, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Now He had commanded this not because He was a control freak or to prove that He had power and dominion over them. He commanded them out of love, knowing that if they did the thing that He had commanded them not to do, it would be hurtful to them and separate them from Him forever.
The same is true of His commands today. When everything was fine in the Garden, and God and man were completely in love, man was deceived by our enemy and accuser, the serpent, known today as Satan. The serpent fooled man into eating from the tree, and... and... oh, (long sigh and reflective moment) and God was separated from Adam and Eve, from man, from us.
Dry your tears. There is hope yet. God would not stand for His bride being separated from Him forever. He stood up to fight for her! For us!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!! As Holy and Just Judge the wrong that we, the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, continued and repeatedly commited called for Him to do away with us for good. But He found a way around that. Instead of sending us off to our death He instituted a system of sacrifice, where an unblemished animal would have its life taken in our place. Life is in the blood, and God would see the animal's blood covering over our sins (the wrong that we do), and His righteous anger would settle.
But this still didn't mean He could be with us. No animal nor anything else on earth was pure enough to wash our sins away so that we could be with God. But our God of hope never gives up. While His long awaited bride was still distant from Him and had mostly forgotten Him and His heart was slowly breaking, I'd like to think it helped Him when His bride would catch a glimpse of Him; A glimpse of His glorious light rising on the eastern sky or His longing eyes looking deep into them through the eyes of one of His children; or when His bride could smell the fragrance of Him, of His cool breath blowing in from the ocean or blowing over fields of dandelions; or when she could feel Him kissing her cheek with the warm rays of sunlight and remember Him, even for a moment. As we, His bride, continued to wander farther and farther from our Father God, our Sweet Love, He did something drastic. The bravest act any lover had even attempted for His bride.
Knowing He was the only one who could be the pure and perfect sacrifice for our sins, God broke through the chasms of Heaven, gave up His divine perogatives, and came to Earth to rescue His bride. His name was Jesus. God in the fullest and man in the fullest. He came first as a baby. And not as a kingly baby, dressed in fine clothes and worshipped by everyone as He deserved, but as a lowly babe He came. Because He had given up His God powers he had to relearn who He was and manually memorize the very same commandments that He had instated. When He did begin to realize and remember who He was and why He came, He found the earth to be a dark place, a place not fit for His bride, and worse, His bride was mostly rejecting Him.
He romanced and wooed His bride, but in her stubborness, she murdered Him. Out of jealousy, anger, pride, selfishness, and rage for no reason, and at the enticing of Satan, she crucified her Love on the cross. Little did she know that He could have prevented His death. That even from the cross He could have called on His angelic warriors to slay His bride and save Himself. Little did she know, that in steadfast love He died in her place. Little did she know that He took up all of her sins, seeing every one of them and bearing the weight of them. Every affair. Every wicked thing she had done. Every act of unfaithfulness He saw and bore. And His heart broke.
But when He died He took her sin, the sin that had separated Him from her for far too long, and He damned it forever. He locked sin up in hell and took the keys. He washed His bride's sins away with His blood. Then He mightily defeated death. Yes. He rose from the dead and showed Himself to His bride. Now only one conflict remained, would His bride choose Him? Would His bride embrace Him and thank Him? Submit to Him and Love Him? Time would tell. He ascended into heaven with this promise: "I am going away and I am coming back to you." Now everyone who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus; everyone who confesses, "Jesus is Lord" with their mouth and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, will be rescued by Him and taken to be with Him forever, happily ever after.
And this is where I came in. Just a small bleep in God's huge, beautiful story. Gifted in some areas, lacking in most, but I have confessed that Jesus is Lord and I am waiting for my King, for my Groom to come in the eastern sky and take me home for good. And I want the rest of His bride to know. That is why the songs that I write are loaded with God's Word (scriptures and themes from the Holy Bible), beckoning God's bride to come to Him and join me in His amazing story.
So, I hope you like the music. God bless you!
